Food calendars are one of my favorite things in wartime magazines. This October 1944 Woman’s Home Companion is new to my collection, and I had no idea it would have such a gorgeous, spooky menu!
So, for this month’s recipe I thought I’d share with you an idea they describe in the monthly food calendar.
They featured recipe ideas from different cities around the country. This idea comes from Denver.
For a good wartime lamb stew, I pulled the one used by my friend Amy whom I interviewed for Episode 21 about veterinarians.
To use this recipe for the Lamb Stew Casserole, just leave out the Tomato Dumplings!
Happy October!
Ooooo cozy indeed! And I can't get enough of that title image with the owl!!
